Women's Empowerment from Abuse

Women Empowerment from Abuse (WEA)

Many social service agencies expressed a need for an affordable evidence-based trauma group; therefore, we are happy to announce the Women 's Empowerment from Abuse (WEA) group. The purpose is to use knowledge to support survivors of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse. Many people avoid trauma counseling and therapy due to the discomfort of having to talk about it. This group uses a scientific method to help members process and heal without having to speak. This group will be empowering and validating to the person who finds herself repeatedly making ineffective decisions about love, parenting, family, and career.

Most EFFECTIVE treatment groups are $70 - $150 an hour. If the client has private health insurance, the co-pay is likely $30 - $60 an hour. Unfortunately, with the Medicaid and public assistance programs, the phrase "You get what you pay for" applies, and the people who participate in therapy endure a "revolving door" of clinicians, without making significant progress. This group does not require health insurance and sessions are $15, making it less costly than a co-pay from private insurance, while providing one of the best treatments in the field of psychology. The Young Women's Empowerment from Abuse (Young WEA) group is for teen girls between the ages of 12 and 19. It meets on Wednesdays from 5 pm to 6: 15 pm.
